People are often confused about Coaching. What is it exactly and
how does it differ from counselling?
Coaching is for clients
who do not have any major psychological blocks or emotional problems to be
worked on. They are usually functioning well, and would like to function better.
So coaching is about future goals, rather than spending time on fixing the
present or the past. A coach helps a client get clarity about their goals,
themselves, and their personal journey. Sometimes there may be blocks to
progress and, by a process of asking key questions, a coach can assist the
person to overcome the block and move onwards. A coach helps a client get a new
perspective on life, and to build an extraordinary future for themselves. The
coach helps a person find answers within themselves, and explore options
and solutions that they may not have thought about, or may have forgotten about.
Why have coaching?
Most of us
know that we are more capable and could perform better than we presently do.
However, we may be unable to seek out the knowledge, skills and experience
necessary to do this. In addition we may lack the insight into personal blocks
to progress. When you focus totally on solutions, and you have a motivating and
enthusiastic coach working with you, you can more readily move towards your
chosen goals. A coach celebrates your successful progress and challenges you to
keep moving and to overcome any procrastination. Coaching can be used to help
you to get more balance in your life, manage stress, set up a business, parent
your children, develop personally and professionally, learn time management,
study more effectively, improve your health or your emotional “IQ”, become
more confident, more creative, seek a new job or improve your performance in
work and other situations, to name a few topics.
My unique contribution to your coaching is that I
am a psychologist, and an EFT practitioner.
Therefore my
coaching model will be founded on good theoretical perspectives from research,
called evidence-based coaching. I can choose which model is most suitable
to a client, and have a great many strategies and tools to add to the coaching
process. In addition I am able to recommend up-to-date and relevant resources. I
am also able to detect and diagnose where there may be an emotional problem
which needs addressing, for example, anxiety or depression which makes it
difficult for a client to perform at the level which is desired.
In Summary
I would be
there to support you with any changes which you may make in business or
personal life. I will be there to help you reach your potential, and to open up
possibilities for a new and exciting future. You will become more productive and
enthused with your personal and professional life. Coaching can be
transformational.
